Gaviscon Advance Suspension 300 ml For Acidity and Heartburn

'- shakes well Gaviscon before use.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 10-20ml of Gaviscon (2-4 tablespoons of 5ml) after meals and at bedtime.
Children 6 to 12 years of age: Take 5-10ml of Gaviscon (1 to 2 tablespoons of 5ml) after meals and at bedtime.

Antacid.

Points of Interests:
* If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should be reviewed.
* Antacids will decrease the absorption of many medicines. The administration of antacids should be separated by 2 hours from other orally administered medicines, whenever possible.

Side effects of Gaviscon suspension:
* Generally well tolerated.

Cautions:
* Each 10 ml dose has 106 mg sodium content and a 78 mg potassium. This should be taken into account when a highly restricted salt diet is recommended.
* Each 10 ml contains 200 mg of calcium carbonate. Care needs to be taken in treating patients with
hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi.

Interactions of Gaviscon suspension:
* Erlotinib: antacids possibly reduce plasma concentration of erlotinib.
* Ciprofloxacin: antacids reduce absorption of ciprofloxacin.

Indications:
* Gaviscon used for moderate symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
