Points of interest:
* Tell your doctor immediately if you have any signs of bleeding (nose bleeds, unexpected bruising, dark or bloody feces).
Side effects of Clexane injection:
* Bleeding
* Bruising and pain at the injection site
* Hyperkalemia.
Cautions:
* Used Clexane injection with extreme caution in patients with history of heparin- induced thrombocytopenia with or without thrombosis.
* Injection: should be used with caution in conditions with increased potential for bleeding such as: impaired hemostasis, history of peptic ulcer, recent ischemic stroke, uncontrolled severe arterial hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, recent neurological or ophthalmologic surgery.
* Risk of hyperkalemia appears to increase with duration of therapy but usually reversible; measure Plasma levels.
* Obese patients are at higher risk for thromboembolism.
* Contraindicated in patients with severe uncontrolled hypertension.
* Contraindicated in patients with Acute major bleeding.
Interactions of Clexane:
* Diclofenac: enhance the anticoagulant effect resulting in hemorrhage.
* ACEI or ARBs: increased risk of hyperkalemia when heparin is given concomitantly with an ACEI or ARB.
Indications:
Clexane injection used for:
* Deep-vein thrombosis.
* Pulmonary embolism.
* Acute coronary syndromes: Unstable angina (UA), non-ST-elevation (NSTEMI), and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
* Prevention of clotting in extracorporeal circuits.
