Aldomet 250 mg 30 Tabs For High Blood Pressure

Always take Aldomet exactly as your doctor has told you.

Adults
*The usual starting dose for the first two days is 250 mg two or three times a day.
*Your doctor may then change your dose depending on how you respond.
*You should not take more than 3000 mg in a day.

The elderly
*The usual starting dose will not be more than 250 mg each day.
*Your doctor may then slowly increase the dose.
*You should not usually take more than 2000 mg in a day.

Methyldopa,

Avoid taking Aldomet tablet in the following cases:
* If you are allergic to methyldopa, or any of the other ingredients
* Liver Inflammation.
* Depression.
* High blood pressure due to a tumor near your kidney called "pheochromocytoma" or "paraganglioma".

Side effects of Aldomet tablet:
* Sedation.
* Dizziness.
* Tiredness.
* Dry mouth.

Cautions:
* Monitor blood counts and liver function before treatment and at intervals during first 6-12 weeks or if unexplained fever occurs.

Interactions of Aldomet tablet:
* MAOIs: the manufacturer of methyldopa advises to avoid concomitant use with MAOIs.
* Lithium: neurotoxicity may occur when methyldopa given with lithium without increased plasma concentration of lithium.
* Salbutamol: acute hypotension is reported when methyldopa is given with salbutamol.
* NSAIDs: the hypotensive effect of methyldopa is antagonized by NSAIDs.

Indications:
* Aldomet tablets used to treat Hypertension.
